Tour Description
In addition to being one of the most accessible glaciers in Alaska, Matanuska Glacier is one of the easiest to access for a bit of ice trekking or climbing. During your tour, take time to marvel at the glacial ice formed thousands of years ago high in the Chugach Mountains. Your day will start with a scenic drive along the Glenn Highway complete with stunning mountain vistas and plenty of time for photo stops. After arriving at the toe of the glacier, we’ll don ice cleats and helmets and begin exploring the glacier on foot. Each day is unique due to the dynamic nature of the ever-moving ice, but tours generally spend two hours and walk three miles on the glacier. After exploring we will have lunch at a local eatery within view of the glacier and surrounding area. Each tour will be customized to suit a group’s interests, making a fully-private tour of Matanuska Glacier a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity!
